Lately I've been trying to step up my blogging game. In order to do that, I have started to write down the ideas that come to me when I'm not sitting down to write a post. That way, I can start brainstorming what I want to say, or how I want to say it. It's always better to have some idea of what you're writing about before you actually write it. (I need to stop using 'it' but it's such a habit)
That being said, sometimes the inspiration strikes me at weird moments. Such as, in the shower, when I'm pooping, cooking a meal, or driving down the road. When I get the ideas I usually whip out my phone and jot them down. Like, I actually jot them down because I have a Note phone that I love. So it's pretty easy to just put my ideas in a note. But I have learned the hard way that writing a blog post in my head isn't always the best thing to do at that moment.
Let's just say, that driving and mentally writing a blog post is a bad idea for many reasons. The main obvious reason is that it distracts me from the road, and that's not good for my safety or the safety of others. The second reason is that 100% of the time, since I can't write what I'm thinking, I forget it. AND IT COULD HAVE BEEN A SUPER AWESOME POST. But I forgot the words because I either got to where I was going, or went on to a different train of thought. It happens.
The best time to brainstorm blog posts is when I'm pooping because I almost always have either my phone or computer in with me. You might think that's weird, but to me that's normal. I'm weird, I get it.
I've found that on my days off, I am counter productive. I just say "I'll write my post later" but then later comes and I'm like "ehh" which is why I am writing 2 posts tonight. There's an app I downloaded that gives you writing prompts, and so I'm going to start using that for blog post ideas when I can't think of any good ones from my own brain. Right now I have a pretty extensive list so I'm set for awhile.
My favorite thing is when blog post ideas come to me while I'm writing a post. Not. I hate it when that happens because it interrupts my thoughts and I have to stop what I'm doing and get the idea jotted down before I forget. My memory is short. When I'm in the writing groove anything can flow from my brain to these fingers so I don't like to be interrupted! Naturally. Speaking of nature, my dog needs to go outside. He's giving me "the look"
